Where does David Stone stack up in Oklahoma's all

An impactful commitment happened over the weekend, to say the least. David Stone made his pledge to the Sooners, officially becoming the program's kingpin in the 2024 class. But was this commit historic?

According to the industry-generated 247Sports Composite Player Rankings, the world of recruiting sees Stone as the No. 6 overall prospect in the 2024 class. The five-star also rates as a top-two defensive lineman in the nation and a top-three player in the state of Florida.

It's no secret, Stone is a good player. But in the context of Oklahoma and the program's all-time commits list, you may be surprised to see where he ends up. According to 247Sports and its records, the five-star defensive lineman is officially the No. 4 overall commit in OU's history. He joins a top-four that features some pretty notable names.

At the No. 1 overall spot remains legendary running back, Adrian Peterson. Behind him at No. 2 is the notorious quarterback Rhett Bomar. From there, the only other all-time former commit Stone sits behind is Caleb Williams, the elite QB now at USC.

Behind Stone are some other more than recognizable names. Jadon Haselwood, the receiver from the class of 2019, is just behind Stone at the No. 5 slot. Just outside of this top-five is another defensive tackle and an Oklahoma legend in Tommie Harris.

Defensive lineman DeMarcus Granger from the class of 2005 is seventh, two signees from the previous cycle in quarterback Jackson Arnold and Adepoju Adebawore are at eight and nine with running back Jermie Calhoun rounding out the top-10. Another recent name is just outside the 10th spot in Spencer Rattler, the current South Carolina signal caller who resides at No. 11.
